KMKR Seeks Out Local Music

At KMKR, we're dedicated to playing music and other content from artists who currently or at one time called Tucson or southern Arizona home. We're always looking for music, spoken-word and other content created by Tucsonans or regional artists.

Do you have in your possession a Tucson or southern Arizona gem you'd like to get on the air? Are you a local artist with something you'd like your fellow Tucsonans to hear on KMKR? Do you have any questions regarding sharing your music? Then please email us. In the email, please warn us if you're aware of any indecent content in the album (read the FCC's factors on indecency).

How to Share Your Music

Sharing Digital Files

Use Lossless File Types

KMKR prefers digital tracks submitted in high quality “lossless” formats like WAV, AIFF, FLAC and M4A, which sound great on-air. Please DO NOT submit tracks in “lossy” formats like MP3 or AAC. They don't sound as good and our listeners notice!

Add the ID3 tags

ID3 is a metadata container saved within audio files. It holds information or “ID3 tags” such as the track's title, artist, album name, and other information. KMKR requires the following tags: Artist Name, Album Name, Song Name, Year of release and Genre. Software like iTunes* and Windows Media Player can often fill in the ID3 tags for you after converting the CD to digital files. There are also ID3 tag editors like mp3tag and Puddletag.

*If you use iTunes to export your album from a CD, please export it to the AIFF format. iTunes does NOT export ID3 tags to WAV files!
